Baltimore cop charged with raping crime victim he drove home in Harford County

A Baltimore Police officer has been charged in Harford County with raping a woman involved in a domestic violence incident whom he had driven home, officials confirmed.

Officer Daniel Oxendine was taken into custody Thursday without incident following an investigation by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, said Cristie Hopkins, a department spokesperson.

Hopkins said a rape was reported to Harford authorities June 3, with the alleged victim saying she was the victim of a domestic violence incident and asked for a ride home from the officer to Harford, where the alleged rape occurred. An investigation led to DNA results that implicated Oxendine in the crime, Hopkins said.

Oxendine is charged with two counts each of first- and second-degree rape and two counts of law enforcement sex act with a victim or witness of an investigation, Hopkins said.

Salary records show Oxendine has been a city police officer since 2017. It was not clear whether he has an attorney.

Baltimore Police said Oxendine was working in the Northeastern District at the time of the alleged sexual assault. He was suspended this summer and is now suspended without pay after being criminally charged.

“While the Harford County Sheriff’s Office conducts its investigation, BPD is fully cooperating with the investigation,” chief spokesperson Lindsey Eldridge said.
