If you have some outdoor plans on Saturday evening in the Baltimore area, you may want to rethink them.

Severe thunderstorms are expected to bring damaging winds up to 60 mph, quarter-sized hail and rain to Western and Central Maryland, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a hazardous weather outlook for the entire state on Saturday.

Rain showers are first expected in the late morning and early afternoon, but there will be a break in the precipitation before thunderstorms roll in, said Kevin Witt, a meteorologist with the NWS Baltimore/Washington forecast office. The highest risk for strong, isolated storms is between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., he said.

High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-high 90s on Saturday, according to the weather service.
