Springtime is cooperating for those attending opening day at Oriole Park at Camden Yards today, as the Baltimore Orioles take on the Minnesota Twins.
Thursday is forecast to see a high near 76, according to the National Weather Service. There’s a slight chance of rain in the evening, with possible thunderstorms overnight, but that should be well after the game ends.
There will be some light wind, around 10 mph, Thursday afternoon, said Connor Belak, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service’s Baltimore/Washington office. “Overall, looks like you have a pretty pleasant opening day,” he said.
The first pitch for the Orioles’ season opener is set for 3:05 p.m. Following his remarkable resurgence last season, Trevor Rogers got the nod as the team’s opening day starter.
The Orioles, hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 75-87 record, had a busy winter adding first baseman Pete Alonso, starting pitcher Chris Bassitt, starting pitcher Shane Baz, outfielder Taylor Ward, and closer Ryan Helsley to supplement a young core headlined by shortstop Gunnar Henderson, catcher Adley Rutschman, starting pitcher Kyle Bradish and catcher Samuel Basallo.
They’ll still have their work cut out for them in the cutthroat American League East.
