Spring weather can bring out the best in Baltimore: open air farmers markets, walks through the park, dining on the harbor.
But, even with the nice weather expected next week, it doesn’t seem time to put away those warm layers just yet.
Saturday through Wednesday, temperatures are expected to climb from the 60s to mid-70s, which is well above average for early March in the Baltimore area, according to Kyle Pallozzi, a meteorologist for the Baltimore-Washington office of the National Weather Service. The typical temperatures around this time of year are in the mid- to low 50s.
The warmest and sunniest days come during the week, with mostly blue skies and highs in the 70s on Monday and Tuesday. Rain returns Wednesday, but it will be the warmest day at 75 degrees, Pallozzi said.
Enjoy it while you can — as in many years, next week is likely just a first, false peak into spring. Temperatures are expected to normalize next Thursday, dipping to 56, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
After a long, icy winter, even a short-lived reprieve is welcomed by local restaurants and bars.
Several businesses in the city, Baltimore County and Howard County said they will make decisions to open their patios and outdoor spaces on a day-by-day basis. Some restaurant managers were cautious because rain showers are expected on Saturday night and possibly Sunday, according to the weather service.
Most seasonal farmers markets and outdoor patios don’t formally open until April and May, although you might get lucky at your local stop around happy hour next week.
