The Banner has hired two new reporters as it expands to cover professional sports in the Washington, D.C., region: Andrew Golden and Kyle Williams.

Golden joined the Banner in March after leaving The Washington Post, where he covered the Nationals and other teams for more than five years. In his new role he will cover a range of teams and issues, including the Orioles and Nationals.

Andrew grew up in Reisterstown and graduated from McDonogh School. He has a degree in African American studies and journalism from Northwestern University in Chicago.

At The Post, Andrew developed a reputation for breaking important news and writing compelling stories about up-and-coming star athletes.

Williams is joining The Banner after covering the White Sox and other teams for the Chicago Sun-Times. He will be The Banner’s primary Nationals reporter.

Williams grew up in Chicago, went to Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and earned his master’s degree from Northwestern University. He starts April 27.
