Baltimore fire crews extinguished a three-alarm fire Sunday afternoon that damaged at least three rowhomes in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood.
Multiple crews, including animal control officers, were dispatched to the fire in the 2500 block of Brookfield Avenue around noon.
Firefighters rescued several dogs and cats from the homes, and no injuries to people or animals were reported.
Veobia Akilo, chief of staff for the Baltimore City Fire Department, said the fire was brought under control shortly after 1 p.m. A firefighter at the scene said at least three homes were impacted.
The cause remains under investigation, Akilo said.
By 1:30 no smoke could be seen, though a faint smell of fire was still in the air.
At least eight fire engines took up Brookfield Avenue and the intersecting Whitelock Street.
Neighbors wandered about in front of the caution tape that cut the public off from the impacted homes. One resident, before learning about the fire, said she thought the area was blocked off for a Pride event.

Dozens of firefighters and emergency personnel walked up and down the block after the fire was under control, talking to residents and each other. A handful of firefighters could be seen going in and out of one of the homes.
