Baltimore Police identified the body found Tuesday morning in the Inner Harbor as Branson Oduor, a 27-year-old who was missing for more than a week after a night out in Fells Point.
Emergency crews located his body in the water near the 500 block of East Pratt Street around 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, department spokesperson Lindsey Eldridge said.
His remains were transported to the Maryland medical examiner’s office, Eldridge said. An investigation is ongoing.
On Tuesday morning, Baltimore firefighters and police responded to the area around the National Aquarium for a water rescue. Two fire boats were in the water as more than a dozen emergency response vehicles stood by.
Witnesses said the body was transferred from a fire boat to a pier. Police taped off the scene, and a white sheet was spread over the ground.
The concerned friends of Oduor hurried to the scene and watched the emergency personnel work. The last time friends and family heard from Oduor, he had gone out for dinner and drinks in Fells Point on April 3.
Security footage shows the man in front of The Horse You Came In On Saloon near the waterfront. Family and friends handed out flyers around the Inner Harbor last week.

Baltimore Police’s Missing Persons Unit, as well as the Southern and Central districts, searched for days after Oduor was officially reported missing on April 5. The department’s dive team joined the investigation on April 9.
Police recovered two bodies in the Inner Harbor late last year. Walter Broderick, 82, was found in the water on Dec. 17 near Lighthouse Point Marina. Another man was found dead in the Inner Harbor near the 400 block of Light Street on Nov. 2.
Last summer, first responders pulled a van with a body inside from the water behind the National Aquarium annex.
‘Life to the fullest’
Oduor had just started a job at Greenberg Gibbons, a real estate developer, said his mom, Millicent Obongo. Oduor lived in an apartment near Camden Yards and was well-liked by his neighbors for his friendly nature, his landlord Beyza Akcam said.
“He is very outgoing and sociable,” said Emily Costa, his girlfriend. “He helps me get out of my shell and helps me not take life too seriously.”
Costa said her boyfriend lived “life to the fullest.” Oduor and the 25-year-old were planning to celebrate their first 18 months of dating on April 5 at Fogo de Chão.
