The Ravens unveiled new uniforms for the first time in 26 years Thursday night, adding a new wrinkle to an offseason of widespread change.
The uniform collection, which features two new helmets, a new “Midnight Purple” colorway and Ravens wings on the collars of jerseys, debuted in front of an estimated 6,000-plus permanent-seat-license owners at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia.
Ravens senior vice president of marketing Brad Downs said the designs of “The Next Flight,” which amounted to more of a refresh than a rebuild, took three years to finalize and included at least 15 jersey iterations and even more helmet iterations.
“We had a very specific goal in mind when we started this process,” he said. “We loved our uniforms. We felt like we had an iconic look for our uniforms, but we would only proceed if we could really modernize them and set them up for the future.”
Downs said the Ravens and Nike, their design partner, were committed to having the uniform “still feel like the Ravens.” Team officials considered the new look an “evolution.”

The new design is meant to evoke the “distinct characteristics of a raven,” the team said in a release — wings, talons and iridescent accents across all four jersey and pant colors. The “Midnight Purple” color was “designed to emulate the iridescence of a raven’s feathers” and is woven into multiple elements across the uniform collection, including the number set and shields on each sleeve.
The pattern on the jersey collars depicts a raven’s spread-out wings, while the pant designs have a diagonal cut that imitates the Calvert crest represented in the Baltimore and Maryland flags.
The Ravens’ white jerseys, typically worn on the road, now have “Baltimore” across the front. The back collar of the purple, black and “Purple Rising” jerseys also includes the “Baltimore” name.
The “Darkness” helmet, which will be worn with the team’s all-black uniforms at M&T Bank Stadium, has a matte finish and features black talon stripes and a two-toned, front-facing Ravens logo.
The “Purple Rising” helmet, introduced in 2024 and originally worn with the Ravens’ alternate purple uniform, now includes the team’s primary Ravens logo,
“We really wanted to evolve the closet and set us up for the future,” Downs said. “So that was really the basic guardrails of what we started with.”

The Ravens last refreshed their jerseys and helmets in 2000. They debuted a black alternate uniform in 2004, an all-purple “Color Rush” combination in 2016 and their “Purple Rising” helmets in 2024, and they tweaked uniform combinations and details over the previous two decades. Thursday night’s overhaul comes three months after the team hired Jesse Minter to replace longtime head coach John Harbaugh, who was fired after 18 years.
The Ravens don’t have to wait long for their next rollout. In 2028, they’ll debut a new alternate uniform as part of the NFL’s “Rivalries” program.
“We’ll get a couple months off, and then we’ll start working on ‘Rivalries,’” Downs said. “We wanted to do something big [this year]. We haven’t done this in a long time.”
ESPN’s Peter Schrager emceed the event, which featured an interview with Minter; coordinators Declan Doyle, Anthony Weaver and Anthony Levine Sr.; and team president Sashi Brown. Former Ravens standouts Terrell Suggs, Jamal Lewis, Peter Boulware, Matt Stover, Todd Heap and Michael McCrary made appearances.
Outside linebackers Trey Hendrickson, Tavius Robinson and Mike Green, safety Malaki Starks, inside linebacker Teddye Buchanan, running Justice Hill and wide receiver Devontez Walker modeled the uniforms in their grand unveiling.
“What an incredible honor to continue to play in the AFC North,” said Hendrickson, the former Cincinnati Bengals star who was decked out in the Ravens’ all-black uniform Thursday. “Obviously, the uniforms are gorgeous. You get fired up for that.”
