The Ravens finally have a backup plan for kicker Tyler Loop.

The team signed Jake Moody to its practice squad Monday, adding another kicking option after Loop’s uneven preseason.

Moody, 26, a 2023 third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers, is reuniting with Ravens coach Jesse Minter, who overlapped with him at Michigan.

The Washington Commanders cut Moody on Aug. 18 after he lost the preseason kicking battle to Drew Stevens. Over 40 career games, he’s 64-for-82 (78%) on field goal attempts and has made 97.3% of his extra-point attempts.

In six games with the Commanders last season, Moody went 10-for-11 on both field goals and extra points.

Moody’s arrival comes three days after Loop, a sixth-round pick in 2025, missed two field goals in the preseason finale against the Commanders.

He finished the summer 5-for-8 overall, doing little to dispel the concerns raised over a rookie year that ended with a season-ending missed field goal in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“It is something we will continue to look at,” Minter said Friday of Loop’s role on the team. “We will continue to look at what the best situation is there. He has had a good camp overall, but again, it comes down to making the kicks in the pressure situations in the game. So that is something I think that we will always be looking at to make sure that we are doing what is best for the team.”

Outside linebacker Adisa Isaac, a 2024 third-round pick who lost a roster battle with undrafted rookie Ethan Burke, returned to Baltimore as a practice squad member. Rookie defensive lineman Rayshaun Benny, a seventh-round pick, also re-signed.
