Lions kick returner Mohamed Ibrahim, a Baltimore native, was carted off the field after sustaining a hip injury in the third quarter of Detroitβs game against the Baltimore Ravens.
βMoβs in the hospital. Heβs having surgery right now,β Lions coach Dan Campbell said after Sundayβs 38-6 defeat. βSounds like heβll be OK, but heβs going to stay here overnight.β
Ibrahim, who played at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School and the University of Minnesota, took the kick 22 yards before being tacked by Ronald Darby. Ibrahim remained on the turf after the play and was immediately treated by team trainers.
With many of his teammates gathering around him, Ibrahim was lifted onto a cart and driven off the field.
Minutes later, it was announced that Ibrahim sustained a hip injury.
Ibrahim joined the Lions as an undrafted free agent this year.
