The Ravens entered free agency needing to shore up their interior offensive line. They found one projected starter Monday in left guard John Simpson, reuniting with the former Raven in their first move of the NFL’s legal tampering period.
Simpson, 28, is joining the Ravens on a three-year, $30 million deal, according to his agency. Contracts can’t be finalized until the new league year begins Wednesday afternoon.
“UNFINISHED BUSINESS!!!” he tweeted after news of the deal broke.
But they soon lost one of their best pieces when Pro Bowl center Tyler Linderbaum reportedly agreed to a three-year, $81 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Simpson rejuvenated his career over his one year in Baltimore and started all 34 games for the New York Jets over the past two seasons. His consistency dipped in 2025, when he allowed a career-high five sacks as well as 29 pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. He was also penalized 11 times, among the most at the position, a recurring problem over his career.
Under first-year offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford, Simpson still should be an upgrade over Andrew Vorhees, who struggled last year. Emery Jones Jr., who practiced primarily at left guard last season, could now move over to right guard, as free agent Daniel Faalele is not expected to return. Jones, a third-round pick last year, played right tackle at LSU.
