TORONTO — Kyle Bradish’s regular season is over. The Orioles placed the right-hander on the 15-day injured list for lower abdominal discomfort.

Bradish threw 155 innings, his most since 2023, and he produced a 4.12 ERA. Bradish’s past nine starts have been a struggle, however, with a 5.83 ERA.

The Orioles are three games back in the wild card with 13 games remaining and Bradish could return if the team makes it to the postseason.

To replace Bradish in the short term, the Orioles recalled right-hander Yaramil Hiraldo, who will slot into the bullpen. There are several options who can cover what would have been Bradish’s next turn in the rotation, such as Cade Povich and Trey Gibson.

Bradish underwent Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery in 2024, and he returned late in 2025. This marked his first full season since 2023, and Bradish’s pitch velocity did not drop as he went deeper into the season. There was a 12-game stretch in the middle of the year when Bradish recorded a 2.74 ERA.

Those sorts of displays built belief that Bradish was back to his best. However, after he allowed five runs in three innings Saturday against the Blue Jays, Bradish said his command all season wasn’t as sharp as he’d like it to be.

“It’s been a tough six weeks,” Bradish said. “Don’t really have answers for it. Just gotta keep going out there and throwing the baseball.”

When asked about dealing with potential fatigue, Bradish said, “Arm feels great.”

Manager Craig Albernaz said “everything is on the table” regarding Bradish following Saturday’s start, noting that the pitcher had gone well beyond his innings loads from 2024 and 2025. That turned into an injured list stint that ends Bradish’s regular season.

In totality, this was a strong return from elbow surgery for Bradish. It came with a new five-year contract extension to keep him in Baltimore through 2031. And with a full offseason to prepare for 2027, Bradish should be in a strong position to return as a high-end starter.
