City boys basketball team’s pursuit of perfection continued in impressive fashion Tuesday. The fourth-ranked Knights defeated Dunbar, 80-57, in a Baltimore City Division B contest in East Baltimore.

Seniors Cam Horton and Kyree Smith each finished with 21 points for City, and Daniel Parsons added 17. Otis Toney led Dunbar with 12 points.

The Knights (19-0 overall) attacked Dunbar on both ends of the court, building a 44-19 halftime advantage as they maintained their best start since 2014 when they finished 27-0 and the consensus No. 1 in the area. City and third-ranked Parkville are the only undefeated teams in the area with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season.

The win also keeps City (6-0) tied with No. 5 Lake Clifton/REACH (6-0) for the top spot in Division B. The teams will meet Tuesday afternoon at City for a spot in the city championship game, Feb. 21 at Morgan State University.

Sophomore guard Trent Egbiremolen added 10 points for the Knights, who went 21-of-28 on free throws. City opened up a 36-point advantage in the second half.

Gary Suite and Tony Hart each had 12 points for Dunbar (14-5, 4-2 Division B), which was eliminated from the city title chase. The Poets lost at Lake Clifton, 68-34, Friday.

City hosts Charles County’s Thomas Stone in a non-league game Saturday before Tuesday’s highly anticipated showdown with reigning city champ Lake Clifton. The Lakers won, 57-55, last season to clinch the top spot in Division B.
