Morgan State University’s Magnificent Marching Machine will perform at halftime during Sunday night’s nationally televised game between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys that will feature tributes marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

The game at the Giants’ MetLife Stadium — kicking off the season for both teams — will recognize first responders, military members and victims who were killed as well as their families, the Giants said in a statement.

The halftime performance featuring the MSU band includes a medley of songs and special arrangements by ‘Hamilton’ composer Alex Lacamoire and ‘Drumline Live’ consultant Don P. Roberts. Penn State University’s Blue Band and soloist Jaheim Lee will also partake in the entertainment at halftime, the team said.

Other special tributes for the game include Ladder 343, a ceremonial FDNY firetruck named to honor the 343 members of the fire department who lost their lives in the attack, players and coaches from both teams donning commemorative attire, including “Never Forget” T-shirts and a 100-yard American flag that will be unfurled and held by personnel from both teams, the Giants said.

The band’s spirited performances are known for making students and fans boogie during MSU football games.

According to the historically Black college’s website about its five different ensembles, in addition to NFL games, the marching band has performed throughout the country and Bermuda, including during the World Series, presidential inaugurations and in regional and local television appearances. The ensemble, consisting of 150 students, was featured in the Chris Rock movie “Head of State” and also appeared on Tom Joyner’s TV show.

The band was also invited to march at the 137th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. It was the band’s first performance at the storied parade.

Morgan State officials and representatives of the marching band could not immediately be reached for comment Friday or Saturday.
