March is kicking off by staying true to the proverb: “In like a lion, out like a lamb.”

The 18th century phrase, which often genuinely describes Baltimore County’s weather, refers to the month that begins with the last vestiges of winter and ends with the warm embrace of spring.

Orchid sale

Friday-Sunday

It’ll start to feel like spring this weekend at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, as the Maryland Orchid Society hosts its show and sale. Orchids from Florida to Connecticut will be on display.

The event is part of the Maryland Spring Home and Garden and Craft Show. Tickets for adults can be purchased online for $10.

Moody moors

Debuts Thursday, 7:30 p.m.

Towson University is staging “The Moors,” a dark comedy by Jen Silverman set in the bleak English countryside. The play is about two sisters who dream of love and power until the arrival of a hapless governess and a moor-hen sends them down a strange and dangerous path.

Tickets are on sale now. The show in the Mainstage Theatre, inside the university’s Center for the Arts off Osler Drive, runs through March 12.

“The Office” trivia night

Friday, 8:30-10:30 p.m.

How well do you remember Jim’s pranks on Dwight or Kevin’s chili mishaps? Visit the Brass Tap in Towson Town Center for a trivia night celebrating “The Office,” the hit NBC show that aired from 2005 to 2013. The top team isn’t promised a Dundie, but it will win a $50 gift card.

Tie dye: St. Patrick’s Day Edition

Saturday, noon-1:30 p.m.

Manor Mill in Monkton is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day rainbow tie-dye class, where participants will create colorful designs to celebrate the coming of spring. Tickets are available for $40 and include the shirt.

Oregon Ridge Lodge in Cockeysville is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration with live Irish music from The ShamRogues, Celtic Corridor, Jim Eagan and Brandt Huseman. Enjoy traditional Irish food and a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for all ages.

Tickets are $20. Kids 11 and under get in free.

Paper mill legacy

Sunday, 2-3:30 p.m.
