Pittsburgh-based sandwich shop Primanti Bros. closed its only location in the greater Baltimore area less than two years after opening.
The chain, known for its french-fry-stacked sandwiches, opened in the spring of 2024 in Linthicum Heights. Ahead of the opening, the company said the Anne Arundel County location would employ 100 local residents.
It was not immediately clear when the location closed, but the company website no longer shows the sandwich shop. The next-closest locations — in Hagerstown, Maryland, and York, Pennsylvania — remain open, according to the website.
Primanti Bros. didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on why the location closed. The chain told the Baltimore Business Journal it was adjusting its overall footprint to meet demand.
The nearly century-old sandwich shop also recently shuttered locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio, Pittsburgh TV station WPXI reported.
The chain has dozens of locations across Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Florida, according to its website. The shop has served an array of sandwiches, wings, pizzas and loaded fries for decades.
