The death of “The Wire” actor Bobby J. Brown, which occurred in a barn fire in February, was ruled accidental, the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed Friday.
The 62-year-old died Feb. 24 from diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation after attempting to jump-start a vehicle inside a barn on his Chaptico property in St. Mary’s County, according to a press release from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The Washington, D.C., native played Baltimore Police Officer Bobby Brown on 12 episodes of “The Wire.” Other acting credits include the HBO series “Veep” and “We Own This City,” along with “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” “The Corner” and “Homicide: Life on the Street,” according to his IMDb page.
Before his acting career, Brown was a boxer.
“He transitioned from a champion in the boxing ring to a powerful presence on screen with a grace and dedication that inspired everyone at the agency,” Albert Bramante, his talent agent, told The Banner in February. “He was a true professional and an even better human being.”
