Operations at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport have returned to normal, with no major disruptions Friday.

Spring break travelers last week faced hours-long lines and travel disruptions during the partial government shutdown. Transportation Security Administration workers had gone weeks without pay, and thousands called out at BWI and airports across the U.S.

As roughly 24,000 passengers are expected to fly out from BWI today, here’s what you need to know if you’re headed to the airport.

What’s the wait time? Security screening lines are moving “very well” and “very efficiently” this morning, said Jonathan Dean, a spokesperson for the airport. Travelers are reporting wait times of less than 10 minutes on social media.

Airport officials recommend people arrive two hours ahead of their flight.

Which checkpoints are open? Checkpoints A, B, C and D/E are open, including most lines for TSA PreCheck and Clear.

What about other airports? Ronald Reagan National Airport has a wait time of 5 to 7 minutes, according to the airport’s website. Dulles International Airport is reporting “normal wait times,” according to its website.

Travel mess at BWI last week

Several security checkpoints at BWI were closed due to TSA staffing issues last week, and wait times stretched to nearly four hours on some days.

Over 38% of TSA workers at BWI called out on Sunday, the highest rate in the U.S., according to figures provided by the Department of Homeland Security. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to pay TSA workers, and officials said some started receiving back pay Monday. Callout rates have since dropped significantly, down to just over 10% at BWI on Wednesday.

Last week, Trump also deployed federal immigration agents to help airports facing travel disruptions. Federal immigration agents, dressed in vests labeled ICE or ERO, have continued to maintain a visible presence at security checkpoints at BWI this week.
