It’s another busy weekend in Baltimore, with various events causing road closures around the city. Here’s what you need to know.
Saturday, Oct. 24
The Baltimore Running Festival last weekend wasn’t the end of races affecting weekend traffic in the city this fall. There are two races and a walk set to affect traffic on Saturday, according to a release from Baltimore’s Department of Transportation.
The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk will take place near M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The event will close the following roads from 7 a.m. to noon:
- Hamburg Street between Leadenhall and Russell streets
- Russell Street Service Drive northbound between Hamburg and Ostend streets
- Lee Street between Eutaw and Russell streets
The Port to Fort 6K will also shut down roads in Locust Point. The race is back to including a loop through Fort McHenry after having to exclude it due to the government shutdown in 2025. The Port to Fort 6K will close the following roads from 8 a.m. to noon:
- Fort Avenue between Covington and Nicholson streets
- Jones Street between Fort Avenue and Whetstone Way
- Porter Street between Fort Avenue and Whetstone Way
- Belt Street between Fort Avenue and Randall Street
- Randall Street between Covington and Webster streets
- Webster Street between Randall Street and Fort Avenue
Other roads along the route will have one lane shut down, and those traveling in the area should expect temporary traffic stops.
The Mother Seton Academy Cardinal Cup 5K will start at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in North Baltimore at 8 a.m. One lane of traffic on roads around the church, including North Charles Street, will be closed during the race.
Sunday, Oct. 25
The Ravens are back in Baltimore after two straight weeks on the road. Their game against the Bengals at 1 p.m. will bring the usual pregame road closures around M&T Bank Stadium starting around 8 a.m., but the Department of Transportation will be debuting a new postgame pattern.
In addition to the standard postgame patterns Ravens fans are used to, the city is implementing the following:
- As with previous games, two eastbound lanes of traffic will exit Lot H onto West Street
- Both lanes will continue eastbound on West Street and turn right onto Hanover Street
- Hanover Street will operate with two southbound lanes between West and Wells streets, with traffic managed by Baltimore Police officers and Department of Transportation personnel.
- Existing intersection closures and the northbound traffic detour at Wells Street will remain unchanged
The Department of Transportation will be “evaluating the effectiveness” of the new pattern to see if the changes should be permanent, it said in a release.
See the department’s full list of closures and traffic patterns here. The city advises drivers to use the Waze app for live traffic detour information.
