A tractor-trailer plowed into several homes in Dundalk on Wednesday, injuring the driver and displacing at least one family, Baltimore County Fire officials said.

Shortly before 5 p.m., the tractor-trailer crashed into at least six homes in the 20th block of Dundalk Avenue, Teisha Jackson, a spokesperson for the county fire department, said in an email.

Fire officials said they were able to get occupants out of the homes, but Jackson said at least one family has been displaced. The Red Cross said its disaster response team went to the scene but residents declined services.

“I seen it happen, I ran across the street,” a neighbor told WJZ, a media partner of The Banner. “I went to the truck and pulled the guy out of the truck and then crawled underneath the tractor-trailer, and went to the door to make sure there was nobody in the house.”

The truck driver was transported to the hospital in serious condition, Anthony Shelton, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department, said in an email. Police advised residents to avoid the area of North Dundalk Avenue and Bayship Road, where the tractor-trailer struck homes and a light pole.

Baltimore Gas and Electric crews dispatched a crew to the block.

“BGE gas and electric crews are on scene assisting with the response at the request of the fire department. At this time, no service to customers was impacted by this incident,” the utility said in a statement Wednesday night.
