A two-alarm fire at a Towson apartment complex on Wednesday evening displaced roughly two dozen people, officials said.
Baltimore County firefighters were called to the 100 block of Versailles Circle around 6:15 p.m. to a fire burning on the top floors of two buildings. Len Stewart, a spokesperson for the Baltimore County Fire Department, said about 10-12 apartment homes were caught in the fire, displacing 20-30 people.
Stewart said the Red Cross of the National Capital and Greater Chesapeake Region was assisting displaced residents. A representative of the regional Red Cross did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Located minutes from Towson Town Center and Towson University, the Versailles Apartments are 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments that range from $1,749-$2,900 per month. The apartments are owned by ROSS Companies, a national property management and real estate firm whose regional office is in Bethesda. The company has 21 properties across Maryland.
