Howard County Police said a motorcyclist was killed after colliding with a transit bus on Route 32 on Wednesday night.
Police said the operator of a 2024 Suzuki GSX 1300 was traveling eastbound on Route 32 between Route 29 and Shaker Drive around 10:39 p.m. when they attempted to pass the bus.
The motorcyclist lost control after striking the passenger side of the bus and went off the road, police said in a news release.
The motorcycle operator was pronounced dead at the scene. The bus driver was not injured and remained at the site. The collision closed eastbound Route 32 for more than four hours.
Authorities believe speed was a factor but that the incident was still under investigation.
The accident happened hours after an MTA bus hurtled down a busy commercial street in Pikesville and slammed into a building, injuring more than 30. Baltimore County Police said that incident remains under investigation.
