Three weeks after a fatal hit-and-run, state and local transportation officials will address road safety concerns about Colesville Road in the Four Corners and Burnt Mills neighborhoods.

The meeting will run from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Attendees can join in person at Burnt Mills Elementary School in Silver Spring or on Zoom.

Coordinated by by Del. Lorig Charkoudian (D-District 20) and Montgomery County Council member Kristin Mink, the meeting will give residents the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of county and state transportation officials about the dynamics of the state roadway, which runs north and east through the Eastern part of the county.

Officials will discuss traffic signals, signs, crosswalks, speed cameras and other automated enforcement options.

A vehicle struck and killed 61-year-old Silver Spring resident Hanna Wegayehou on June 19 as she crossed Crestmoor Drive at Colesville Road. Police believe she was hit by a black SUV, possibly a 2009-2014 Lexus RSX 350, but have not identified a suspect.
