The CVS Pharmacy in Charles Village temporarily closed this month to address a rodent infestation, according to a Baltimore City Health Department notice.
Meanwhile, some pharmacy customers at the 3200 Saint Paul St. location had their prescriptions diverted to the 4625 Falls Road location in Roland Park, which is about 2 miles north of the closed store. The Roland Park CVS has seen a surge in customers, according to employees there.
Roslyn Guarino, a spokesperson for CVS, said the store was temporarily closed to “address a sanitation issue.” She added that the company was working closely with the landlord and the city’s health department to resolve the issue and hopefully reopen soon.
Several people who walked up to the CVS on Saint Paul Street were surprised to see it closed Friday. Its windows and doors were covered in white paper. Yellow signs indicated that the closure was due to a rodent infestation and instructed people to visit the Falls Road location.
CVS has closed several pharmacies in Baltimore in recent years. Last year, at least three closed across the city, but there are about a dozen stores still operating.
Majority-Black and majority-minority neighborhoods in Baltimore have had less access to pharmacies than others in recent years.
