A driver was killed and three passengers suffered life-threatening injuries when their vehicle crashed into a pole in Catonsville on Thursday, police said.

Baltimore County Police identified 35-year-old Bruce Campbell as the driver in a news release.

Investigators said the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan was traveling eastbound when it left the road in the 600 block of Frederick Road around 3:25 p.m. It was not immediately clear what led to the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

The four people in the SUV were taken to the hospital, where Campbell was pronounced dead, police said.

Baltimore County Police are investigating.
