The Maryland Attorney General’s Office released police body-camera footage from a deadly crash following a Howard County officer pursuit on Sept. 6.

The video shows how the pursuit began around 2:15 a.m. at Royal Farms in the 7100 block of Montevideo Road in Jessup, when the driver of a 2018 Infiniti Q60 backed into an occupied Howard County Police cruiser driven by PFC Amir Parker.

Parker, a six-year veteran assigned to the traffic management division, pursued the Infiniti, which crashed into a retaining wall about a mile away near the Howard and Anne Arundel County line

Anthony Bowers Jr., 20, of Baltimore, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people in the vehicle were taken to a hospital in stable condition, officials said.

Parker’s eight-minute body-camera video shows all three of the vehicle’s occupants lying on the road after the crash. Parker approaches one of the injured people and asks, “Hey, man, you all right?” He then asks the person’s name and who was driving.

“I was just going to exchange information,” Parker says at one point, before adding, “Man, I think your two buddies are not going to make it.”

Parker then radios that he has located the driver, who is conscious and breathing. He reports the other two occupants, who were ejected from the vehicle, are unconscious and no longer breathing.

The road is a quiet residential street lined with single-family homes and small businesses.

A Jessup resident told CBS News Baltimore that the Infiniti narrowly missed two utility poles. The vehicle also appeared to have struck a traffic sign and two mailboxes.

“They drive really crazy out here. I’ve been living in Howard County for the past 15 years, and there are no safe drivers,” Howard County resident Jasmine Ortiz told CBS News Baltimore. “Even out in Annapolis, I even work out there. They don’t even put on their signal. They’re zigzagging. It’s ridiculous.”
