Four people, including two children, were hospitalized after their boat caught fire near Pasadena in the Patapsco River, fire officials said.

Reports of the fire came in just before noon on Friday, said Steven Bishop, a spokesperson for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Before firefighters could reach the boat, a charter vessel passing by helped tow it safely into the marina at the 2000 block of Knollview Drive, he said.

All four people on the boat were taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment, said Bishop. At least one adult and one child suffered burns, but all four are in stable condition, he added.

It was not immediately clear what led to the fire.
