Many of the Anne Arundel County Council races had clear winners Tuesday night as election results were tallied.

Anne Arundel County has increasingly voted Democratic, but its council has spent the last eight years divided between four Democrats and three Republicans.

With results still updating, it’s too soon to tell whether Democrats will achieve their goal of growing their advantage into a five-two supermajority.

Only three council members ran for re-election, meaning most of the legislative body will be newcomers, regardless who wins.
