A 17-year-old boy was shot and left with non-fatal injuries on Thursday afternoon in McElderry Park, police said.
The teenager ran from the scene of the shooting at the 400 block of N. Milton Street around the corner to the 2400 block of Jefferson Street in the East Baltimore neighborhood, according to a release the Baltimore Police Department.
Around 4 p.m., police found the teenage boy there suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the release.
He was taken to the hospital where is he expected to recover from his injuries, police said.
The neighborhood where the boy was shot is a mostly residential area three blocks north of Patterson Park.
As of Thursday morning, there have been 138 fatal shootings in 2026, up from 130 at the same time last year. Though homicides were down from 56 to 44 in 2026.
