More than two years after a fatal shooting in the parking garage at the MGM National Harbor Hotel and Casino, police have arrested the man whom they believe pulled the trigger.
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Fugitive Unit arrested Dayon Neal, 28, on Monday in Charles County, according to a press release. Neal is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and gun-related charges.
The court docket indicates that Neal made an initial appearance in Prince George’s County District Court on Tuesday and is being held in jail. A press release from the PGPD says he is in custody in Charles County and is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s. The next hearing is scheduled for July 22. His attorney, Thomas Mooney, was not immediately available for comment.
In May 2024, PGPD responded to reports of a shooting at MGM National Avenue around 4:50 a.m. Officers found 37-year-old Daniel Antonio Thomas, of D.C., suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The investigation revealed the suspect and victim did not know each other prior to the shooting,” PGPD’s press release said. “The motive remains under investigation.”
