Anne Arundel County Police on Monday identified a woman officers fired at after authorities allege she stole a car and drove it into a police officer.

The Crownsville woman, Jasmin Cooper, was ordered held without bond by a District Court judge on Monday. She does not have an attorney listed in online court records.

Police last week said the 28-year-old woman “forcibly took” a vehicle from a family member and drove off. After being located in Severn, she drove toward officers and hit one of them, police said.

Police said they shot at and struck Cooper but did not specify how many shots were fired. Police spokesperson Justin Mulcahy said the number of shots is part of the investigation.

Police identified the officers who fired weapons as Cpl. L. Hylton, an eight-year veteran of the department, and Officer N. Watson, who has been with the agency for one year.

They were placed on administrative leave pending a review of the incident, police said.

Cooper and a police officer were transported to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.

Charging documents did not offer much additional information or a timeline beyond what police said last week.

Police went to a Wawa gas station in the 7100 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie around 9 p.m. on May 7, where Cooper’s father said she stole his 2013 Ford Escape.

Cooper’s father, whose name is redacted in charging documents, said he came to the Wawa to pick Cooper up after she “just crashed her vehicle.”

Police tracked the vehicle to Pioneer Drive in Severn. At that point, police said last week, Cooper drove toward officers, and they fired at her before she fled.

Cooper sped through a red light during a “brief pursuit” and struck another vehicle, according to charging documents.

The vehicle Cooper was driving was disabled, and she fled briefly on foot before attempting to force her way into another vehicle, police wrote.

She was then arrested. She faces nine charges, including reckless endangerment, first- and second-degree assault, theft and resisting arrest, according to charging documents.

Cooper has a court date scheduled for May 27.
