Police said Friday they have identified a body found inside a van pulled from the Inner Harbor last summer.
The man, Franklin Roosevelt Daniels, was reported missing more than a decade ago in another jurisdiction, according to the Baltimore Police Department. He would have been 38 years old in December 2014, which is when the Honda Odyssey he was found inside was reported missing.
It is still not clear how Daniels died or ended up in the harbor, police said.
The police department’s Underwater Recovery Team responded to reports of a submerged vehicle near 501 E. Pratt St. behind the National Aquarium in July 2025. It was 22 feet underwater.
The van appeared to belong to the Silver Cab taxi service. It was reported missing in Waldorf, about 60 miles south of where it was found. It’s not clear if that is where Daniels was also reported missing.
When Daniels’ remains were discovered, police said the vehicle had likely been submerged for several years.
