A man was arrested this week for the alleged sexual assault of a woman he worked with as a volunteer firefighter in Baltimore County, police said.

On Friday, detectives from the Woodlawn Precinct arrested and charged 26-year-old Xavier Dove in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation.

Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault in the 10000 block of Liberty Road in Randallstown around 9 a.m. May 5, according to a news release from Baltimore County Police.

The woman told police Dove assaulted her on May 2, according to the news release.

The two were assigned to the Liberty Road Fire Station, police said. Officers investigated and issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest, according to the release.

“Earlier this month, the Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company became aware of allegations involving inappropriate conduct by one of our members,” station Chief Bernard Jones said. “Upon receiving this information, the matter was referred to the Baltimore County Police Department for investigation.”

Jones added that, per department policy and in the interest of maintaining public trust, the member was removed from all emergency and nonemergency operations, and all departmental access and privileges were suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.

“The Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company is fully cooperating with investigators and remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of the community we serve,” Jones said. “Because this is an active investigation, we are limited in the amount of information we can provide at this time.”

Jones said the Baltimore County Police Department remains the lead investigative agency regarding this matter. Any criminal investigative inquiries should be directed to its office.

“I will serve as the point of contact on behalf of the Liberty Road Volunteer Fire Company for departmental-related inquiries,” Jones said.
