It’s probably fair to say a lot of us are missing the sunshine.
Brings to mind the Beatles song about having that very feeling: “Here comes the sun, doo-doo-doo, here comes the sun and I say, ‘it’s all right.’”
Then later in the song: “Little darling, it’s been a long, cold lonely winter. Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here.”
It’s definitely been a long winter in Maryland. And while the sun has been shy these last couple of weeks, things are starting to look up. After Winter Storm Fern, freezing temperatures that turned snow into snowcrete and a groundhog telling us to brace for more winter, warmer temperatures are finally here.
However, any Marylander knows that trusting the weather to stay consistent in this state is like trusting a cheating partner to be loyal.
The good news is the high temperature for Sunday is 71 degrees in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore region, according to the National Weather Service, and the low is 43. Clouds are partially blocking sunshine and there’s a slight chance of rain. However, Monday’s high will be in the 60s and 70s, rising to the upper 70s on Tuesday and, get this, the low 80s on Wednesday.
But don’t let the warm weather fool you.
Because here’s the thing, the National Weather Service said on its website: “A strong cold front is likely to impact the region midweek, resulting in additional rain and a drop in temperatures towards the end of the week.”
The lows will drop to the 30s and the sun is likely to go back into hiding. Ironic, given that this week marks the start of having longer days and shorter nights.
Don’t lose hope, people. The forecast shows that the high temperatures will creep back into the 50s next weekend. The weather service even used the phrase “mostly sunny” when describing Saturday’s weather.
So, as The Beatles sang, “Little darlin’ I feel that ice is slowly melting. Little darlin’ it seems like years since it’s been clear.”
Spring is nearly here.
