Some much-needed showers and possible thunderstorms are forecast to sweep over parts of Maryland on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain in the Baltimore area is likely later in the morning into the afternoon, said Cody Ledbetter, a meteorologist for the weather service’s Baltimore/Washington office. A strong cold front could produce thunderstorms in the evening, with threats of damaging winds and an isolated tornado.
About .5-1 inch of rainfall is likely between the showers and the thunderstorm, Ledbetter said.
There will be sunny days the rest of the week as temperatures are forecast to hover in the low to mid 60s.
Friday and Saturday evening will be significantly cooler, Ledbetter said, with temperatures in the low 40s and upper 30s.
