Country Calling concertgoers, fear not. The weather in Ocean City seems to be in your favor this weekend.
Thousands of people are heading to the shore for the two-day music festival, which starts Friday. Headliners this year include Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson.
Country Calling is the sister festival to Oceans Calling, a three-day music festival that also takes place in Ocean City. Oceans Calling, which had a packed lineup including Dave Matthews Band and Twenty One Pilots, was canceled last week after a powerful nor’easter flooded the beach town and tides and high winds made setup unsafe.
The country music festival isn’t forecast to face any severe weather this weekend. While a cold front is headed to Ocean City, it will not rain enough to result in coastal flooding, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are likely to hover in the 80s on Friday, and the forecast in Ocean City is mostly sunny, said Larry Brown, a meteorologist for the weather service’s Wakefield office.
“But most people would want to be there on Friday rather than Saturday,” he said.
Steady rain is expected on Saturday, with temperatures dropping slightly into the 60s. The weather is expected to stay overcast, Brown said.
