The Nationals announced their 2027 schedule Thursday afternoon.
A potential lockout looms over the sport as the league and MLBPA negotiate the next collective bargaining agreement, but if the season starts on schedule — which is very unlikely — this is how the Nationals’ schedule will look.
Here are five takeaways from the schedule release.
Opening day
The Nationals would open against National League East rival Philadelphia on March 25, the earliest start to a season in team history, as part of a six-game homestand that also features a three-game series against the Mets.
Beltway Series
The Nationals would play the Orioles for three-game sets in May and July. The teams would play at Nationals Park from May 15-17 and at Camden Yards from July 16-18, right after the All-Star break.
Washington went 4-2 against the Orioles this season.
Three-city road trip
The Nationals have a 10-game, three-city road trip that begins in Pittsburgh on May 1 and takes the team to Miami before ending in Houston.
The Nationals went 3-4 against the Pirates this season, won their three-game series against Houston but have struggled immensely against the Marlins. Miami and the Dodgers are the only two teams to sweep Washington this year.
West Coast trips
The Nationals would make four West Coast trips.
They would begin a three-game set in San Francisco against the Giants on May 31 as part of a six-game road trip that concludes with a series against the Mariners.
Washington would venture back west to take on the Dodgers from June 28-30 after a three-game set in Milwaukee against the Brewers. In August, the Nationals would travel to San Diego and Arizona for a six-game road trip.
To conclude their West Coast travels, the Nationals would return to California to play the Angels on Sept. 6 before traveling to Colorado to begin a three-game set against the Rockies on Sept. 10.
Finale
The Nationals would end the season on the road against the Braves and Phillies as part of a 22-game, 24-day stretch.
