Jason La Canfora, the polarizing Baltimore sports talk personality who’s co-hosted “Inside Access” on 105.7 The Fan since 2020, is no longer with the station, a spokesperson for the broadcast conglomerate Audacy confirmed Thursday.

It’s unclear what led to La Canfora’s departure. He appeared on Wednesday’s show, which runs weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m. But as of Thursday afternoon, the Apple Podcasts page for “Inside Access” had already excised his name, instead featuring his former co-hosts Ken Weinman and Tim Barbalace.

Weinman addressed La Canfora’s absence early in Thursday’s show with a brief comment: “He is no longer with Audacy, but ‘Inside Access’ will continue. We wish Jason the very best, but hopefully you will continue to listen.”

In a statement, La Canfora said: “There were no specifics given, I was one year into a three-year deal with a term they wanted and my program director had just held a meeting with us Friday to talk about being number one in all the weekly ratings and to tell us we had the best YouTube numbers at the station. There were no reasons given and they would not say anything other than they were moving in a different direction.” (Both reporters of this story have appeared as guests on “Inside Access.”)

La Canfora was a lightning rod for controversy over his five years on “Inside Access.” He once called Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias a “jackass” on air, only to apologize later. He also has been critical of Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta and his commitment to spending, and of owner Steve Bisciotti’s reluctance to speak with reporters.

A Baltimore native, La Canfora covered the NFL for The Washington Post, NFL Network and CBS Sports before joining “Inside Access.” He also contributed to the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network’s Orioles coverage in 2023.

A source said that in a memo to staff, Tracy Brandys, the senior vice president and market manager for Audacy Baltimore, confirmed La Canfora’s exit and wished him the best “in his future endeavors.” Brandys added that the station would begin to identify La Canfora’s replacement “in the near future.”
