SAN FRANCISCO — Just as the Washington Commanders had a full complement of offensive players for the first time this season, another critical injury hit the team.
Star receiver Terry McLaurin was carted off the field in the first quarter with a knee injury after running a route. He was jostling with a 49ers cornerback before he fell to the ground in pain.
He left the field in an air cast on his left leg, recording one catch for 27 yards. Washington said a short time later he was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Monday was the first time this year the Commanders had their top two receivers and top tight end healthy. McLaurin, Stefon Diggs and tight end Chig Okonkwo had never played a game together.
McLaurin just returned from an injury last week after suffering a hamstring strain in the team’s Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts in London. The veteran missed seven games in 2025 due to injuries and subsequently posted a career-low 582 receiving yards.
