The Chicago Sky traded two-time WNBA All-Star and Randallstown native Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream on Monday afternoon.

The Sky received the Dream’s first-round picks in 2027 and 2028. The Dream received the right to swap second-round picks with Chicago in 2028.

“Angel is a dynamic talent and a perfect fit for what we are building in Atlanta,” Dream general manager Dan Padover said in a statement. “She has already proven herself as one of the most impactful players in the league, and her competitiveness, production and drive to win align seamlessly with our vision. This is an exciting moment for our organization and our fans.”

The Sky drafted Reese — a 2020 graduate of Saint Frances Academy and national champion at LSU — with the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. She made two All-Star appearances with Chicago, was named to the 2024 WNBA All-Rookie team and led the league in rebounding in both seasons.

Reese had an up-and-down season in 2025. She became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 500 points and 500 rebounds, reaching the feat in just 38 career games. But Reese missed most of the second half of the season with a back injury. When she returned, she expressed frustration about the direction of the Sky, who finished the season with a 10-34 record.

With a handful of games left, she told the Chicago Tribune, “I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me. But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.”

The Sky suspended Reese for a half game on Sept. 7, two days after she made the comments that were deemed “detrimental to the team.”

The two sides’ relationship soured. Now, she’ll have a fresh start with the Dream.

“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to join the Atlanta Dream organization,” Reese said in a statement. “I’m focused on continuing to grow my game, competing at the highest level, connecting with the fans, and giving everything I’ve got to the Dream.”

Following the trade, Chicago has five first-round picks in the next three seasons. The Washington Mystics hold swap rights to Chicago’s 2027 selection.

“The Sky are trading Angel to the Dream in exchange for two first-round picks. This trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties,” Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement.
