Long-time fans of Third Eye Comics know that it’s so much more than just a comic shop, and now those in the Baltimore area can experience the area’s favorite comic, games, and pop culture destination closer to home with the grand opening of Third Eye Comics’ ninth location—a 10,000-square-foot super store in Glen Burnie—on July 25. The store, called Third Eye 97, a nod to its convenient location right off of I-97, will host a number of exciting promotions during its grand opening celebration, says Emma Longfellow, Chief Marketing Officer at Third Eye Comics.
“Our grand openings are always a big deal because we have such a huge fan base with people waiting in line to come in the front door on that first day. It’s always so exciting because we get to see the familiar faces of customers that have been loyal to us for 18 years,” says Longfellow, who notes that the biggest draw for the grand opening is the 25% off sale on most products. Additionally, the first five customers on Grand Opening Day get a free Grand Opening tee shirt, and the first 25 receive a commemorative sticker. Additional giveaways, contests, and appearances by well-known creators are also planned for the Grand Opening Weekend.

One of the reasons why people love Third Eye Comics is the variety—everything from comics to tabletop games, vinyl records, toys, apparel, anime, Pokemon cards, Manga for kids and teens, Spy x Family, and family-friendly graphic novels. “We have avid collectors but no matter what your interest is, you will find something here that you love,” says Longfellow. “Our stores are fun for everyone, and I always tell people, if you’re visiting the store for the first time, block out a few hours because they’re so big, and you will want to explore every inch of it. It’s fun, it’s exciting, and it’s colorful. All of our stores are designed to be a destination and a friendly, welcoming place for everyone, even if you have never been to a comic shop before.”
Creating comic shops that are destinations and a community hangout space for self-described “nerds,” was the goal of Steve Anderson and his co-founder, co-owner, and wife Trish Rabbitt when they launched Third Eye Comics in 2008 with $4,000 and a dream. What started as one small shop in Annapolis is now a family of nine shops serving a wide demographic that now includes Baltimore. People are encouraged to more than just shop; bring your kids, spend the day, attend an event, and possibly make new friends. The community approach is also demonstrated through Third Eye Comics’ partnerships with local schools and libraries.
“We have events almost every weekend, including comic signings by big-name comic creators. It’s awesome because while you’re waiting in line, people make new friends by talking about their favorite comics. It’s wonderful as there is a real community formed at our shops,” says Longfellow.
The Glen Burnie shop is considered one of Third Eye Comics super stores due to its large size, which will also allow it to host large events. Conveniently located off of I-97, there is ample parking, and is an easy drive from Baltimore City, Pasadena, Catonsville, Linthicum, Elkridge, Hanover, or if you just flew into BWI Airport. The Glen Burnie store will also debut Third Eye Thrift, featuring rare older items, as well as great one-of-a-kind deals."
“Comics are for everyone, and we want everyone to love them, so we are so excited when people come to our stores, and we can help them discover a new passion or fun family activity,” says Longfellow.
The Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, July 25 will be held at Third Eye Comics new Baltimore location at 7990-2 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. Visit Third Eye Comics online and sign up for their email list for special offers and promotions.
