Maryland Gov.-elect Wes Moore continued to build out his team on Friday, naming additional hires who will focus on public safety and emergency management.

With just days to go until his inauguration on Wednesday, the Democrat added to his quickly-growing list of key nominees:

  • Russell Strickland will remain in his role as secretary of emergency management, a holdover from outgoing Gov. Larry Hogan’s administration.
  • Carolyn Scruggs will be the secretary of public safety and correctional services, which oversees the state prison system and state police. She’s been an assistant secretary in the department.
  • Harold “Bud” Frank as a deputy chief of staff in the governor’s office for public safety and homeland security. He’s a former state trooper who has held various positions in state government related to homeland security and emergency response.
  • Katie Savage as secretary of information technology. She previously was with the U.S. Department of Defense, according to the Moore team.

The day before, Moore announced his picks for secretaries of health, labor, human services, general services, veterans affairs and juvenile services. Before that, he’d named his budget secretary, appointments secretary and the secretary of state.

All told, Maryland government has more than 20 cabinet secretary positions.
