John Bolton, who served as ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush and as national security adviser to President Donald Trump, will speak at an Annapolis dinner next month.

Bolton, who lives in Bethesda, has long been an advocate of an aggressive American foreign policy; he supported the Iraq War and pushed for intervention or regime change in countries including Cuba, North Korea, Syria and Venezuela.

More recently, Bolton has criticized how the Trump administration has handled its 17-day-old war in Iran, telling Politico the conflict could lead to regional conflict and bloodshed. He has also continued to call for regime change in Iran and wrote on social media there is “much more to do.”

Bolton will speak April 1 before the International Club of Annapolis, during the group’s monthly dinner at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, according to the group’s website. In an announcement posted online, club President Phil Reynolds called the event “one you won’t want to miss.”
