About this page
Results are tallied by Maryland’s State Board of Elections.
When available, The Banner relies on results compiled by the Associated Press. In other cases, vote totals are provided directly from the State Board of Elections, with The Banner receiving exclusive access to precinct-level results.
You can find a full list of races we’re covering and the data sources we are relying on for each here.
Candidates’ names appear as they were published by state election officials.
Results displayed are considered preliminary and subject to change as additional votes are counted and recounted.
As part of its work tracking certain contests, the Associated Press publishes the percent of expected votes that have been counted, based on its statistical modeling. When available, The Banner relies on these figures rather than counts of precincts reporting.
In all other contests, precincts are classified as “reporting” when any votes have been tallied; precinct-level and overall results are likely to increase as election officials count every ballot. Certain methods of voting (especially provisional and mailed ballots) will be underrepresented in early precinct counts.
The final tally is subjected to risk-limiting audits conducted by local boards of election across the state, and an independent automated post-election tabulation audit conducted statewide.

Correction: An earlier version of this page misstated the number of candidates who advance from the primary to the general election in both the District 3 and At-Large races for the county’s board of education. The top two finishers in each contest advance to the general election.
