The Prince George’s County Office of Law has issued subpoenas for documents pertaining to an organization tied to Council Chair Krystal Oriadha, a county spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
Brian Fischer, spokesperson for County Executive Aisha Braveboy, said he did not know who received subpoenas.
NBC4 Washington reported Wednesday night that the county executive’s office demanded the County Council provide all documents related to the organization Community on the Frontline, and that the Office of Law and the county auditor issued subpoenas to compel the council to comply.
Fischer confirmed the existence of the subpoenas Thursday morning.
Braveboy’s demand comes after she and Oriadha requested the return of more than $7.6 million that the council had awarded to Community on the Frontline.
The organization is run by Janna Parker, Oriadha’s close friend and the godmother of her son.

Oriadha could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday, nor could Parker.

The county executive has also requested that the county auditor retain an outside firm to investigate the use of public funding provided to the organization and its fiscal sponsor, the Beverly Hills-based Edward Charles Foundation.
As the fiscal sponsor for Community on the Frontline, the Edward Charles Foundation has provided administrative support and held the local organization’s funds in a restricted account.
An unnamed Edward Charles Foundation spokesperson said in a statement last week that the foundation will return the money it holds, but “the final figure is being reconciled” with the county’s finance office.
