A Baltimore County-based pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company will lay off 94 employees by December, according to an Oct. 30 filing with state officials.
The layoffs will affect the Hunt Valley campus of Pharmaceutical International Inc. (PII), a subsidiary of global manufacturing company Jabil. The Fortune 500 company acquired PII, which had over 300 employees at the time of the announcement, in February 2025.
These actions target the Gilroy Road facility, which focuses on oral research, development and manufacturing, PII said on its website. It is one of four facilities that PII operates on its Hunt Valley campus.
“We have made the difficult decision to reduce our workforce at our Hunt Valley facility to align staffing levels with current and projected business requirements,” a Jabil spokesperson said.
Jabil’s stock was down 6.19% shortly after noon Thursday. The company reported higher revenue in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, noting “significant growth in AI infrastructure,” according to CEO Mike Dastoor.
There have been 117 Work Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notices in Maryland so far this year. At least three have been related to pharmaceutical manufacturing companies.
