Live from Montgomery County, it’s happening this weekend.

Bethesda’s Round House Theatre is bringing back its annual teen takeover Friday through Sunday just in time for spring break, offering an improv comedy show and play performances for their peers and grown-ups alike.

“I have a 14-year-old [student] who wrote a sketch that I think would be right up there with the best of the best comedy sketches ever, with very little assistance or guidance,” said director Kevin Corbett, who has been teaching comedy at Round House for nearly 30 years. “I wish that I had something like this when I was a teenager.”

The comedy show features Round House’s student group, The Roundlings (a Round House-themed spin on the famous improv group The Groundlings). The students perform a mix of improv, sketch and stand-up comedy that Corbett says is on par with some of the pros.

“They seem to be really good at observational humor,” he said. “One of the stand-ups is doing a whole bit on how the word ‘embroidery’ sounds like a crime. ‘What are you in for?’ ‘Embroidery.’”

The Roundlings will take the stage for “Mission Improv-ible” Saturday at 2 p.m., and the Round House Theatre Teen Performance Co. is set to perform “At The End of The World” Friday and Saturday nights, with a Sunday matinee.
