The hotly anticipated Peter Chang Annapolis restaurant is taking reservations and hoping to open by this weekend.

General Manager Yan Fiorini said the restaurant is waiting on final city inspections before it can open its doors, hopefully in time for dinner service Thursday.

However, for now, visitors to the restaurant at 918 Bay Ridge Road will only be able to eat at the James Beard Award-finalist Chang’s restaurant by making reservations as they put finishing touches on the space.

“I want to make sure we give our best customer service,” Fiorini said.

Chang once cooked in the Chinese embassy in Washington, D.C., and gained a cultlike following around the region when he left and traveled among different restaurants.

This latest restaurant joins other eateries by Chang, including NiHao in Baltimore and Peter Chang Columbia. His most recent opening was a Peter Chang Kitchen in College Park. The Annapolis location promises to use fresh, local ingredients and will be open for lunch and dinner.

Its menu features dim sum, full Peking duck, Chesapeake Bay catfish prepared multiple ways and other signature Chinese dishes, including Sichuan cuisine.

Peter Chang Annapolis has been the source of hype and speculation for Annapolis foodies, especially since its plans were confirmed last summer and since a sign went up on the building late last year.

Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant: 410-558-6958.
