After more than two decades in Fells Point, One-Eyed Mike’s will close at the end of the month, the pub announced Monday on Instagram.
The bar and restaurant, which opened in 2003, is perhaps best known for its Grand Marnier Club, whose 3,000-plus members purchased individual bottles of the orange-flavored cognac kept on site for them to drink from on return visits. The bottles became part of the bar’s decor, lining the entrance walls.
It is unclear what will happen with the club’s bottles once the establishment closes. Owner Akbar Vaiya did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday.
Vaiya bought One-Eyed Mike’s — and its club — from the late Mike Maraziti in 2016. “Vaiya, who is also a chef, ramped up the menu options at One-Eyed Mike’s, taking it from quirky pirate-themed bar to quirky restaurant with serious gourmet credentials,” The Banner reported in 2023.
The menu boasts a chicken liver mousse appetizer, served with bread and butter pickles and a baguette; a wild mushroom and duck confit entree with parmesan polenta, spinach and parmesan gremolata; and a Roseda Farm steak with roasted fingerling potatoes and a spicy chimichurri.
In early 2023, Vaiya placed the 708 S. Bond St. business up for auction, saying he wanted to open a new restaurant in Baltimore County or the city. But the sale of One-Eyed Mike’s was called off a few months later when bidding did not reach the price he wanted.

In its social media post Monday, the restaurant thanked its customers and asked them to help give the Fells Point institution a “busy and memorable sendoff. We’d love to see you, hear a story, and fill the place up before the final night.”
