The Orioles are asking fans to spend more at Camden Yards. When will they do the same?
Maybe increased tickets are the cost of seeing a team that won 101 games last season and is battling again for a division title. But, if fans are going to pay more for the privilege, the social contract is that ownership should pay more to keep the team competitive.

In retrospect, maybe all those Trump flags were not such a good idea
As I’ve rambled this summer, through Virginia, North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I’ve looked for Donald Trump banners fluttering on political winds and seen almost none. So, I have to ask, is everything OK over there in the Trump political multiverse?

LeBron James, Steph Curry show old guys still have it for Team USA. Why doesn’t the younger generation?
Team USA's comeback win over Serbia was sparked by the 35-and-over crowd including LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. But the call for the younger generation to get more playing time is missing that they haven't shown what it takes to win.

Solving the Lovebug mystery starts with superyachts in Annapolis
The superyacht Lovebug capsized last month about 12 miles south of Annapolis, just inside the West River. No matter what investigators find when the boat is refloated next week, maybe the way Lovebug and other superyachts have changed Annapolis is just as important.

Jon Meoli: How the Orioles develop pitching prospects and keep them healthy
At all levels of the Orioles’ farm system below Triple-A, many games will feature a starter and a second, planned pitcher who will pitch bulk innings behind him.

Larry Sheets endured the Orioles’ record 1988 losing streak. Then, his son’s team tied the mark.
Former Oriole Larry Sheets “wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy” the 21-game losing streak his team endured in 1988. But his son Gavin, who plays for the White Sox, just went through the same thing.

Storms, humidity and tomatoes: August on the Chesapeake Bay is the unexpected month
I went sailing on Saturday. Not really a surprising thing. I live in Annapolis. But August is the Chesapeake Bay’s unexpected month — the time of year when things turn out exactly as you expect until they do not.
